Create your own peaceful textile seascape with the Life’s a Beach Slow Stitch Digital Pattern.

 

Inspired by the changing layers of the British coastline, this design brings together bright skies, rolling waves, foamy shallows and softly stitched grasses. The pattern will guide you through layering your fabrics and adding simple hand stitches to create movement, texture and detail.

 

The finished design measures approximately 6 × 8 inches and looks beautiful displayed in an 8 × 10-inch frame with a 6 × 8-inch aperture.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED

 

• Calico or firm cotton for the base

• Assorted batik, cotton or fabric scraps in coastal colours

• Cotton perle size 8 or embroidery threads

• A suitable hand-sewing needle

• Scissors

• Pins or tacking thread

• Optional fabric glue

• A soft pencil or removable fabric marker

• Ruler and iron

• A frame if you wish to display the finished piece

 

SKILL LEVEL

 

Beginner-friendly.

 

The pattern includes clear guidance, but slow stitching is wonderfully flexible. You can follow Roxana’s design closely or use it as a starting point, adapting the colours, fabrics and amount of stitching to make the finished piece your own.

 

PRINTING

 

The pattern is formatted for A4 paper.

 

Print the printable guide at 100% or “Actual Size”. Do not select “Fit to Page”. A clearly labelled 1-inch test square is included so you can check the printing scale before beginning.

 

The instructional pages may be viewed on a screen if you prefer to print only the full-size stitch-placement guide.
