Featuring softly layered spring hills, flowering hedgerows, a characterful little cottage and a meadow filled with hand-stitched flowers, this design is full of fresh colour and beautiful texture. It is a lovely project for anyone who enjoys relaxed, creative stitching and working with fabric scraps.
The instructions guide you through creating the original design while leaving plenty of room to make your finished piece personal through your own choice of fabrics and stitches.

FINISHED SIZE
The finished textile design measures approximately 6 × 8 inches.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• An approximately 8 × 10-inch piece of calico or firm cotton
• Assorted batik, plain cotton, hand-dyed or small-patterned fabric scraps
• Cotton perle size 8 or embroidery threads in coordinating spring colours
• A size 22 or 24 chenille needle, or another sharp needle with a large eye
• Scissors
• Pins or tacking thread
• A small amount of fabric glue, if preferred
• An 8 × 10-inch frame with a 6 × 8-inch aperture, if you wish to frame your finished piece
Batik fabrics work beautifully for this project, but they are not essential. Plain cottons, hand-dyed fabrics and small-patterned scraps can also be used, making this a lovely way to enjoy fabrics you may already have in your collection.
PRINTING YOUR PATTERN
The pattern is formatted for A4 paper in portrait orientation.
Print at “Actual Size” or 100% and do not select “Fit to Page.” Check the clearly marked 1-inch test square before cutting your fabrics.
You can view the photographic instruction pages on your screen and print only the templates and guides if you prefer.
SKILL LEVEL
Suitable for beginners and more experienced stitchers.
The instructions are warm, clear and encouraging, with simple hand-stitching techniques and plenty of freedom to work at your own pace. Slow stitching is not about achieving perfect stitches—it is about enjoying the fabrics, colours and calming rhythm of creating by hand.
